The company said the game is now entering its final stage of development. It’s been more than ten years since work began on Grand Theft Auto VI , and still, the excitement hasn’t slowed down. This new delay just means fans will have to wait a bit longer before stepping back into Vice City.

Why Rockstar delayed GTA 6?
Take-Two’s CEO Strauss Zelnick didn’t go into any specific problems about development, but he clearly mentioned that the reason behind GTA 6 delayed is quality. He said Rockstar wants to make sure the game looks and plays exactly how people expect it to.
In his letter to shareholders, Zelnick said they are confident the studio will deliver a blockbuster-level experience. Later, while talking to Variety, he added that Rockstar just needs a little more time to polish the game.
Rockstar also released a short statement on X (aka Twitter). They said, “We are sorry for adding additional time to what has been a long wait, but this extra time will help us finish the game with the level of polish you expect and deserve.”
If you know Rockstar, you know this is pretty normal. They’ve always been known for taking extra time to make sure their games are smooth and bug-free at launch. So even though it’s annoying to wait, it’s kind of expected from them.

What’s happening behind the scenes?
The delay came right after some internal changes at Rockstar’s UK studio. Some reports said staff were fired recently, but Take-Two confirmed that this has nothing to do with the delay. The company said the firings were for policy violations, not because of the game’s progress.
