Guide to Dying Light Legendary Weapons: Locations, Unlock Methods & Crafting Tips

Unlocking Special Legendary Weapons

These are the truly unique, one-of-a-kind weapons. You won’t find them in a random chest, each has a specific location or a puzzle you need to solve to claim your prize. Think of it as a treasure hunt where the reward is a game -changing piece of gear.

The Needle (SMG)

Dying Light Legendary Weapons - 2

The Needle is a compact, deadly SMG perfect for handling groups of infected at close to mid-range. To find it, head to the unmarked Mountain Reserve Ranger Station in the northeast section of the map (grid reference D5).

Look for a cabin to the right of the main, closed building. Inside, flip the generator on, grab the power cable, and connect it to the port on the left side of the garage. As the garage door slowly opens, prepare for a fight, the noise will attract a horde of Virals.

Once the coast is clear, go inside, pick the lock on the far-left door, and claim your prize from a shelf. Remember, doing this at night is a one-way ticket to a very bad time.

Sunray (Revolver)

Dying Light Legendary Weapons - 3

The Sunray is a high-caliber revolver that hits like a truck. Its location is as unique as the weapon itself. Start at the roundabout in the Golden Pine area (northeast of the map).

From there, head northwest until you spot two isolated houses. You want the one without the Dark Zone. Go to the backyard, find the broken window, and enter.

Your first goal is the bathroom, where a lone zombie sleeper guards a body holding a Fuse . Grab the fuse after taking care of the zombie.

Then, head back outside to the cellar door, replace the fuse in the panel, and enter the newly unlocked room. Inside, a hidden safe is tucked behind a breach in the wall. The code is 2-2-19 . Enter it, and the Sunray is yours.

The Eraser (Auto Rifle)

Dying Light Legendary Weapons - 4

This auto rifle is a beast in its own right. Getting it is a multi-step process. First, travel to the Farmlands Area and find the Farms Tower Safe Spot.

From there, head southeast until you see a ruined building with a Toad spitting from a small balcony. This is your target.

After clearing the area of zombies, find the power panel where the Toad was. Next, find a nearby shed, it’s just a few meters away.

Enter through the vent on the back side (you might need to smash some crates) and turn on the diesel generator inside.

Pick up the power cable and drag it back to the panel in the ruined building. Once you connect it, a hatch will open on the ground below.

Head down into the basement, push the massive shelf blocking the air duct, and crawl through. Inside this tiny room, you’ll find a second power panel.

The final step is to go back outside, grab the cable from the first panel, and drag it all the way into the basement to connect it to the second panel. This will unlock the door to The Eraser.

The Statement (Shotgun)

Dying Light Legendary Weapons - 5

Need to make a statement with your shotgun? Find this one in the Pembroke Area (B7-B8). Use your map to locate the isolated buildings where grid B7 and B8 meet.

Look for a small building with sunflowers planted against the wall. On the bottom right side, you’ll spot a vent. Crawl through, unlock the tool shed door, and turn on the diesel generator.

Take the power cable from the panel and connect it to the panel on the building directly in front of you. This will open the garage door, allowing you to defeat the zombie inside and claim your powerful shotgun from the workbench.

The Elite (Pistol)

Dying Light Legendary Weapons - 6

This is more than just a pistol; it’s a symbol of survival. The Elite is found on the Red Bridge , which connects the Monastery Area and the Mountain Shelter zone.

You’ll see a series of abandoned cargo train containers. The first step is to use your Survival Instincts to find the locked container with a zombie inside.

Pick the lock, dispatch the zombie, and grab the Key Card it drops. Next, pick the lock on the other locked container.

Then, head to the open container on the west side of the bridge, near two fuel canisters. There’s a big generator here.

Turn it on, and brace for an attack from Virals. After you’ve dealt with them, grab the power cable and drag it to the second container you unlocked. Connect the cable and insert the Key Card to unlock the final container and claim The Elite Pistol.

Strauss & Broda Machete

Dying Light Legendary Weapons - 7

This machete is all about perseverance. Find the Industrial Zone and the building labeled “Taxi” on the map. Climb to the rooftop using the side stairs.

You’ll find a hard-locked shed on the terrace. Once inside, look for a wall-mounted box with a “Knock” prompt.

Here’s the kicker: you have to knock on it repeatedly, sometimes up to 50 times, until it opens. It’s a test of patience, but the Strauss & Broda Machete is worth the effort.

EXPCalibur II (Sword)

Dying Light Legendary Weapons - 8

Inspired by a certain legendary sword, the EXPCalibur II is a force of nature. Travel to the southeastern side of the Monastery and cross the river into the Camping Zone.

Look for a huge rock formation to the east of the Camping Tower Safe Spot. The sword is wedged into the rock, but you can’t just pull it out.

First, you must find and collect eight Sigil Stones scattered across Castor Woods. Once you have them all, return to the rock and place them in the pentagram surrounding the sword.

This ritual will summon a massive Zombie Charger that you must defeat. Once the Charger is down, go to the sword and hold the action key for a few minutes. Kyle will eventually draw the sword and its blueprint from the stone.

Ciupaga (Axe)

Dying Light Legendary Weapons - 9

Ever wanted a throwing weapon that returns to you? The Ciupaga is your answer. Head to the Mountain Resort above the Mountain Shelter Tower Safe Zone (D5).

Climb to the balcony outside the third-floor attic. Look above the blocked window to spot the axe mounted on the wall.

Grab it and start practicing your throws! For an easy pickup, the Secondary Quest “Stay Human” will lead you right to this location.

Last Hand of Glova (Spear)

Dying Light Legendary Weapons - 10

Another hidden gem on the Red Bridge! On the opposite side of where you found The Elite Pistol, look for a crumbling tunnel entrance.

Spot a wall with the 9 3/4 symbol painted in green and go through it. Keep going deeper, breaking through Minecraft-like blocks until you find a door with zombies.

Defeat them and continue on to a train filled with rare items. The Blueprint for the Last Hand of Glova is waiting for you on top of a crate.

Upgradeable Legendary Weapons & Blueprints

Dying Light Legendary Weapons - 11

Not all great weapons are found; some are forged. These Dying Light Legendary Weapons start as standard gear, but with the right blueprints and resources, they can be upgraded to their full, legendary potential.
