FASTag Annual Pass – Everything you need to know
What exactly is the FASTag Annual Pass
It’s basically a prepaid plan only for non-commercial private vehicles. Think of it like a yearly subscription for tolls. You take your existing FASTag, activate this pass on it, and you’re good to go.

Once you do that, there is no topping up again for every trip, as long as you stay within the limits. One thing is, it’s tied to your vehicle number, so you can’t move it to another car.
How to get it
The process is online and pretty simple. Here’s how it works.
Now, click on the Annual Pass option from the homepage. You click on the Activate button to start.

On the next page, read the basics and click on the Get Started button. You put in your vehicle number to check if it’s eligible.

Then you confirm details with an OTP and pay ₹3,000 for the 2025-26 year. The ministry says the pass will be active on your FASTag within about 2 hours after payment.

How it works after activation
Once you activate, the FASTag annual pass will work for one year from that date or for 200 trips, whichever comes first.
If you finish 200 trips before the year ends, the pass stops and your FASTag will go back to normal pay-per-use mode. If you still want it, you just activate again with another payment.
It works only on National Highways and National Expressways . On State Highways, city roads or parking spaces, your FASTag will work like normal and the usual charges will apply.
Do you really need it
It’s not compulsory. If you don’t travel much on highways, you can just keep using your normal FASTag as usual. This is just an option for people who drive on NH or NE tolls often and don’t want to deal with recharging again and again.
The FASTag annual pass is meant for frequent travelers who want to make toll payments easier and predictable. If you’re someone who drives a lot on highways, it’s worth looking at. If not, the normal FASTag is fine.
