This was Google clearly using Apple’s delays to promote the Pixel 10 , which is launching on August 20 . And they timed it just before Apple’s iPhone 17 announcement, which makes it even more pointed.

What’s the issue with Siri?
Okay, so Apple introduced Apple Intelligence back in WWDC 2024 . It was supposed to bring a smarter, better Siri . But here’s the problem, the update never showed up with the iPhone 16 . So users were left waiting.
And it’s not like the update is just slightly late. We’re talking almost a year now. Even with iOS 26 in testing, Siri is still running on old tech . It’s like Apple is stuck, and the wait just keeps getting longer.
Some leaks even say we might not get the new Siri until next year. That’s a long wait, especially when the feature was already announced last year. Naturally, a lot of users are not happy about it.
Google is moving faster
Now, on the other side, Google is already going all-in on AI . Their new Gemini AI is replacing the old Google Assistant . It’s already working in some devices and it’s doing well. They’ve got different versions of Gemini out there like Gemini 2.5 Pro and Flash , and these are already performing solid in benchmarks.
And like always, Google is packing their best AI tools into their Pixel phones. So with the Pixel 10 series , which includes models like Pixel 10, 10 Pro, XL, and Pro Fold, we’re going to see these Gemini-powered features in action.
Bigger picture here
Apple is still depending on ChatGPT for the heavy AI stuff. And while there are talks that Apple is building its own AI chatbot that’s more focused on search, it’s still not out. So the gap between them and Google is growing.
And Google’s ad just kind of says what a lot of people are thinking. If AI is something you really care about, and you don’t want to keep waiting for “coming soon” updates, then Pixel 10 might be the better option .
So yeah, with the iPhone 17 launch coming up , Google’s made a smart move. They used Apple’s slow rollout of AI and Siri delays to make a point. And it worked. People are talking.
If nothing else, it’s a reminder that in this AI race , Apple’s falling behind. And Google? Well, they’re already moving forward with working tech. And that’s what matters in the end.
