GTA 6 60FPS Might Be Exclusive To PS5 Pro. Here’s Why That Matters
A 60FPS leap, but not for all
So far, every GTA title on console has been locked at 30FPS . If you wanted smoother performance, you had to play it on a high-end PC.
That’s just how Rockstar has done things for years. Now though, new leaks are saying GTA 6 60FPS might actually be possible on a console, but only on the upcoming PlayStation 5 Pro . Not on the regular PS5. Not on Xbox Series X either. That’s the surprising part.

This comes from some pretty well-known leakers . One of them, going by the name “Detective Seeds,” says that Rockstar and Sony are working closely.
Basically, Sony’s engineering team is helping Rockstar make sure GTA 6 runs at 60 frames per second on the PS5 Pro .
This version of the console hasn’t even been announced yet, but from what’s being said, it’s expected around mid-2026.
Why PS5 Pro might make sense for this
Sony knows they have to give people a reason to buy a more expensive console. So they’re probably pushing hard for better exclusives or performance.
GTA 6 60FPS could be the big one to show off what the PS5 Pro can do. And it also makes sense for Rockstar.
Instead of waiting years for a PC version, they get to show better visuals and smoother gameplay right at launch.
They’ve done this kind of thing before, just not with frame rates. GTA 5 launched on old-gen, then got enhanced versions. But this time they could be going for higher frame rates at launch itself. That’s a big shift.

What about Xbox or the normal PS5?
No clear info on that yet. Most leaks are only talking about the PS5 Pro. If this turns out to be true, Xbox players and even normal PS5 owners might be stuck with the usual 30FPS version. That might upset some players, but also, this could push more people to upgrade.
There’s even a rumor about a GTA 6-themed PS5 Pro being planned, which wouldn’t be surprising. Sony has done stuff like that before with limited editions.
Just a reminder
This is still not officially confirmed. No word from Rockstar or Sony yet. So I’d say take it with a bit of caution.
But at the same time, this isn’t coming from random sources. These are people with decent track records when it comes to leaks.
Honestly, I think this could be a turning point. GTA 6 at 60FPS on console sounds like a big deal, especially if it happens right at launch.
If Sony pulls it off with the PS5 Pro , then they’ve got a huge win. People want smoother gameplay, and Rockstar knows it too. Now we just have to wait and see if it’s true.
