The confusion started when a gaming insider called RebsGaming posted that Halo Studios had adopted AI-driven tools throughout its development process.
It sounded like the studio was using AI for everything, from level design to gameplay systems. For a big franchise like Halo, that claim was a big deal.
But soon after, RebsGaming corrected his words. He explained that Halo Studios might be using normal procedural tools and automation, which are already common in game development. That’s not the same thing as using generative AI , which creates content on its own.

Insider denials cleared the confusion
The strongest clarification came from Jez Corden , a well-known journalist from Windows Central. He directly said that the Halo AI rumors are false.
According to his trusted sources, Halo Studios is not using generative AI for any part of its game development. No AI is making art, designing maps, or building gameplay systems.
Corden also mentioned that Microsoft has no rule forcing its studios to use AI tools in development. The idea that every Microsoft studio must include AI was just another wrong assumption.
He did note that AI might be used for small office tasks like managing emails or documents, but not in the actual making of the game.
That statement from Corden helped calm fans down and ended most of the confusion around the Halo AI rumors .
What’s next for Halo Studio
While the AI rumor was trending, some other reports appeared suggesting Halo Studios might be working on a multiplayer-only Halo project .
It’s said to be a long-term live-service game similar to Fortnite. There are also talks about a Halo: Combat Evolved remake and another mainline Halo game being developed.
However, none of these projects has been officially confirmed by Microsoft or Halo Studios. Until then, all of this remains speculation, just like the earlier AI claims.

After all the noise, the truth is simple. The Halo AI rumors were wrong. The next Halo game is being made the traditional way, by human developers using standard tools.
There’s no AI building the world of Halo, no bots writing the story, and no automation replacing creative work.
Fans can relax knowing the next chapter of Halo is still made by people who understand what the franchise stands for.
