The PlayStation Blog shared that the game will first come out as a normal flatscreen version on PS5. But the main surprise is that there will be a free PlayStation VR2 update in 2026 .
This will let players enjoy the game with a full virtual cockpit setup later. The VR mode already works on PC but this is the first time PlayStation players will get it.
What does the game offer?
Flight Simulator 2024 is more than just flying around. It is a complete aviation simulator with as many as 125 aircraft, depending on which edition you buy.

The list includes helicopters, business jets, airships, and more. There is also a career mode where you can do different aviation jobs. Some missions include firefighting from the air, delivering cargo to remote locations, or even medical transport.
Features on PS5
The PS5 version is being worked on to use the DualSense controller . It will not just be a simple port. Some of the features include:
- Adaptive triggers that give feedback based on speed or landing surface
- Controller speaker used for ATC (air traffic control) voice messages
- Gyro and lightbar support to add small extra details when flying
When the VR update comes out in 2026, the Sense Controllers will be supported as well, which means VR flying will feel more interactive.

The official release date for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on PS5 is December 8 . But if you get the Deluxe, Premium Deluxe, or Aviator Editions , you can start playing on December 3 with early access.
