OnePlus, Realme joined Chinese smartphone manufacturers Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo in their cross-device file sharing alliance, which is also said to be the Apple’s Airdrop alternative for Android. Last year, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo announced to develop a cross device file sharing association/ group which would be an alternative of Airdrop for Android. This feature officially rolled out in February this year, and soon it will be rolled out for this new collaboration.
According to a post from Weibo, this time four more brands including OnePlus, Realme, Black shark, and Meizu are joining this group so more Android users get the advantage of cross device file sharing alliance. The cross device file sharing alliance will make use of Wi-Fi with P2P technology and therefore, it offers a fast speed of 20MB/s for file sharing. If you are not familiar with the concept of P2P so, P2P is a peer-to-peer file-sharing protocol that supports the transfer of files directly between the users instead of requesting and responding to a server, in P2P file-sharing technology files are transferred easily and directly between the users without interference of any third-party application.
This feature doesn’t interfere with the working of Wi-Fi anyway, it will just share the file with ultra-fast speed and in a very convenient way. With this file transferring protocol, we can share a wide range of file formats including, images, videos, audio documents, etc.
Some brands are using such file-transfer techniques previously, but it is only available for that particular brand, with this cross-device file sharing alliance, most of the Android users will get the seamless advantage of this file-transfer feature (not all but at least users of these smartphone companies).
Final words
With the unity of leading smartphone manufacturers this p2p cross-device file sharing alliance will be the best Airdrop alternative for Android smartphones. This feature will be rolled out soon for all the users of OnePlus, Realme, Black shark (sub-brand of Xiaomi which majorly develop gaming smartphones), and Meizu.
