Alright, so here’s what’s happening with the August 2025 Xbox Game Pass . Microsoft just dropped the first list of new games , and honestly, there’s a good mix.
If you’ve been bored or waiting for something fresh, this month’s update is actually worth checking out. I’ll break down everything that’s coming and what’s leaving, simple and to the point.
August 2025 Xbox Game Pass brings Assassin’s Creed Mirage and more to your library
The big one, Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Let’s start with the obvious one. The biggest title this month is definitely Assassin’s Creed Mirage . It’s coming on August 7, and it’s available on Cloud, Console, and PC.
What makes it different? It’s kind of going back to how the old Assassin’s Creed games used to be. You play as Basim, who’s like a street thief doing all those stealthy moves in 9th-century Baghdad.
So yeah, if you liked the classic games in the series, this one’s for you. It’s not all open-world like the newer ones; it’s more focused.
Other new titles worth trying
Now, along with Mirage, a few other games are joining too. First, there’s Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector , dropping on August 6 . It’s a sci-fi RPG with a bit of dice-rolling mechanics.
You’re playing as an android who’s kind of on the run. If you liked the first one, this looks like a good follow-up.
Then on August 12 , there’s Aliens: Fireteam Elite . It’s more action-heavy. You and your friends can team up and take down waves of Xenomorphs. Feels like a good time to get into this with the Aliens TV show coming soon.

Also coming on August 6 are MechWarrior 5: Clans , Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap , and Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders . All of them are for Xbox Series X|S . And on August 14 , 9 Kings is landing on PC.
Games leaving Game Pass soon
As usual, some games are getting removed. Three titles will be gone by August 15 , so if there’s anything you’ve been planning to try, now’s the time. Once they’re off Game Pass, you’ll have to buy them if you still want to play.
More games coming later this month
Microsoft usually adds more games in the second half of the month, so this isn’t everything. Titles like Gears of War: Reloaded and Herdling are confirmed to arrive later in August. We’ll probably get another update soon.
